My
Name is Deb Pierotti. I am a 3rd
Grade teacher at Oak Grove. I’ve taught 3rd and 4th grade
in Brattleboro for 24 years. I earned my
Masters Degree at Antioch University after being the director of an early
childhood center in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.
My hope as a teacher is to
enable my students to be compassionate citizens of the world. I believe
students learn best in a low stress environment that combines high expectations
with kindness, acceptance, curiosity, and creativity. Learning comes alive when
a stimulating curriculum is infused with the spirit of inquiry. My hope as a
teacher is to offer the fullest spectrum of learning for my students- a learning
process that involves exploration and discovery beyond the curriculum and the
classroom. I love the challenge of helping my students grow academically!
One of the highlights of my
teaching career was participating in the Asian studies Program. I studied and
taught with a group of Vermont teachers in China, and Thailand. I also taught
kindergarten in England for a year. These enriching exposures to other cultures
continue to shape the multicultural focus in my classroom today.
My other interests are
teaching yoga, open water swimming, biking, skiing, and foraging for wild food
and mushrooms. My latest passion is learning to play the violin. In the summer I travel back to my roots to Colorado
and Utah to hike the majestic mountains, visit family members and play with my adorable
nephews.
